Location Aware Promotion - Gowalla & Weezer
Campaign Brief:
Gowalla and Weezer wanted to reward fans who check in on Gowalla at Weezer shows with exclusive downloads and virtual items.
Hip Digital Solution:
Gowalla integrated Hip Digital's Digital Media Engine to deliver files in real time via the Gowalla App.
Fans who checked in at the concert also received an exclusive Weezer item inside Gowalla
Additionally Hip Digital built a custom microsite where Weezer fans could purchase the album for $7.99.
Results:
Increased awareness of Gowalla and Weezer.
One of the first "location aware" promotions of its kind. Rivers (lead singer) tweeted about the promotion, which was also advertised on the band's website.
